Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies are used on the Sourcinq platform (sourcinq.com), operated by LEX RESO LTD (Company Number: 16682470), registered at 128 City Road, London, United Kingdom, EC1V 2NX.
This Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy at sourcinq.com/privacy-policy, which provides broader context on how we handle your personal data.
By continuing to use our website after being presented with our cookie consent banner, you agree to the use of cookies as described in this Policy. You may withdraw or change your consent at any time — see Section 6.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work properly, work more efficiently, and to provide information to website operators.
Cookies can be:
- Session cookies — temporary files that exist only for the duration of your browser session and are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies — files that remain on your device for a defined period of time, or until you delete them manually, even after you close your browser.
- First-party cookies — set directly by Sourcinq on our domain.
- Third-party cookies — set by external services we use (such as Google Analytics or Stripe).
In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and pixel tags for equivalent purposes. This Policy applies to all such technologies.
2. Why We Use Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- to enable core platform functionality (authentication, security, session management);
- to remember your preferences and settings across visits;
- to prevent unauthorised access and detect abuse of our platform features;
- to understand how visitors interact with our platform so we can improve it;
- to facilitate secure payment processing.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
3.1 Essential Cookies (Strictly Necessary)
These cookies are required for the platform to function. They cannot be disabled through our cookie consent controls. Without these cookies, core features such as logging in, submitting searches, and accessing your dashboard would not work.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Set By | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
sq_session |
Maintains your authenticated session while you are logged in | Sourcinq | Session |
sq_xsrf |
Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) protection — prevents malicious requests from being submitted on your behalf | Sourcinq | Session |
sq_remember |
Keeps you logged in if you select "Remember me" at login | Sourcinq | Up to 30 days |
sourcinq_cookie_consent |
Stores your cookie consent preferences | Sourcinq | 12 months |
Legal basis: These cookies are strictly necessary for the delivery of the Service you have requested. No consent is required under UK GDPR / PECR for strictly necessary cookies.
3.2 Functional Cookies
Functional cookies enable enhanced features and personalisation. They remember choices you make and settings you configure within the platform to provide a more consistent experience across visits.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Set By | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
ui_preferences |
Stores dashboard display preferences (e.g. view layout, sorting) | Sourcinq | 6 months |
locale |
Remembers your selected language or regional preference | Sourcinq | 12 months |
Legal basis: Legitimate interest in providing a consistent and personalised user experience. These cookies do not track your behaviour across third-party sites and contain no personally identifiable information.
3.3 Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the platform — which pages are visited most, how long users spend on each page, and where visitors come from. This information is used in aggregate to improve the platform and identify areas for development.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Set By | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated identifier | Google Analytics 4 | 2 years |
_ga_* |
Stores and counts page views for a specific GA4 property | Google Analytics 4 | 2 years |
_gid |
Distinguishes users — stores and updates a unique value for each page visited | Google Analytics 4 | 24 hours |
Important: We have enabled IP anonymisation in Google Analytics 4. This means the last octet of your IP address is masked before any data is stored by Google, reducing the personally identifiable nature of the data collected.
Google Analytics data is processed by Google LLC, based in the USA. Data transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com.
Legal basis: Consent — analytics cookies are only placed on your device if you have accepted them through our cookie consent banner. You may opt out at any time. See Section 6 for instructions.
3.4 Third-Party and Payment Cookies
When you proceed to checkout and make a payment through Stripe, Stripe may set cookies on your device as part of their fraud detection, payment session management, and security verification processes.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Set By | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__stripe_mid |
Fraud prevention and payment session management | Stripe, Inc. | 1 year |
__stripe_sid |
Fraud prevention and payment session tracking | Stripe, Inc. | 30 minutes |
These cookies are governed by Stripe's own Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy, available at stripe.com. Sourcinq does not control the content or behaviour of Stripe's cookies.
Legal basis: Strictly necessary for the execution of the payment transaction you have initiated. No consent is required for cookies that are essential to a service you have actively requested (such as processing a payment).
4. Demo and Guest User Tracking
When you use the guest demo search feature on our platform without registering an account, we use session-level tracking (including session identifiers and IP address) to enforce the free demo query limit and to prevent abuse — such as using multiple browser sessions, incognito windows, or different devices to obtain additional free Queries beyond the permitted limit.
This tracking does not involve placing persistent cookies for tracking purposes. It operates through server-side session management and is limited to the enforcement of our demo access controls.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest in protecting the integrity of our platform and preventing circumvention of access limits. This tracking is necessary to maintain a fair and functional demo experience for all visitors and does not require prior consent under UK GDPR / PECR, as it is a security and fraud-prevention measure rather than a behavioural tracking mechanism.
5. Cookie Consent Banner
In accordance with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR, we display a cookie consent banner the first time you visit sourcinq.com.
The banner gives you the following options:
- Accept All — accept all cookie categories including analytics.
- Reject Non-Essential — accept only strictly necessary cookies; analytics and functional cookies will not be set.
- Manage Preferences — choose which individual categories of cookies you wish to accept or decline.
Your preferences are saved in a first-party cookie (sourcinq_cookie_consent) for 12 months and applied consistently on all subsequent visits from the same browser and device.
If you use a different browser, device, or clear your cookies, the banner will appear again and you will be asked to set your preferences once more.
6. Managing and Withdrawing Cookie Consent
You have the right to withdraw or change your cookie consent at any time. There are several ways to do this:
6.1 Cookie Preferences (Recommended)
Click the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of any page on sourcinq.com to open the preference panel and update your choices at any time.
6.2 Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. Please note that blocking all cookies — including essential cookies — may prevent some or all of the platform from functioning correctly.
Instructions for managing cookies in common browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
6.3 Google Analytics Opt-Out
To opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
You can also disable analytics tracking specifically on Sourcinq by selecting "Reject Non-Essential" in our cookie preferences panel.
7. Cookies and Personal Data
Some cookies — particularly analytics cookies that use unique identifiers — may constitute personal data under UK GDPR. Where this is the case, our processing of that data is governed by our Privacy Policy at sourcinq.com/privacy-policy.
We do not use cookies to:
- build individual behavioural profiles for advertising purposes;
- sell or share your data with third-party advertisers;
- track your activity across unrelated third-party websites.
